Apple has two separate server environments for receipt validation. One is for "Production" receipts, those that are generated by published Apps available on the iTunes App Store. The "Sandbox" environment is for test receipts that you generate while testing your App with XCode. The sandbox environment will NOT work for a receipt from a published iOS App available on the iTunes App store.

You may generate a shared secret on the Apple Developer website and use it to ensure your receipts are properly decoded by Apple through this receipt validation service. This is recommended but not required. However, if you are selling an Auto-Renewable in-app product then Apple requires you use a shared secret to validate your receipts. The secret can be found on the Apple Developer website, under your App configuration where you manage In-App products.

Each of your iOS Apps needs to be registered with this receipt validation service so that validation will work correctly. Depending on your account type, you may be limited to the number of Apps you can configure.

A notification email will be sent to your Google Account if there are overages. The service will continue to function normally for 3 days after an overage occurs. This will allow you enough time to login, check your usage statistics, and modify your account as needed.

Each connection to this service is logged to your account for a short time. Log entries are available for 1 hour. In rare circumstances a log entry may be available for less time.
